Mood Tracker · Android

Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Mood Tracker does not require an account and does not send the contents of mood entries to the developer, analytics, or advertising providers. Mood Tracker uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Google Mobile Ads, which process limited app, device, and usage data as described below.

Mood history and preferences

Mood scores, dates, notes, selected contributors, custom contributors, and app preferences are stored in the app’s private storage on the Android device. Mood Tracker does not operate an account, cloud-sync, or mood-data server.

This information remains on the device until it is changed or deleted in the app, the app’s data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled, subject to Android backup as described below.

Android backup and restore

If Android backup is enabled, Android may back up mood history and app preferences to the user’s Google Account and restore them after a reinstall or on another Android device. Mood Tracker uses Android’s platform backup and device-transfer mechanisms and does not operate a separate backup service. Cloud backup is permitted only when the Android backup transport reports that it can store the backup in encrypted form.

Android backup availability, retention, security, and deletion are controlled by Google and the user’s Android backup settings.

Analytics

Mood Tracker uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate app usage. It sends:

  • fixed screen names when an app screen is viewed; and
  • an event when a new mood entry is saved successfully.

Firebase Analytics also automatically processes app lifecycle and session events, a pseudonymous app-installation identifier, and basic app, device, session, and diagnostic information. Google may derive a general location, such as country, region, or city, from the device’s IP address. Mood Tracker does not access GPS or precise location.

Mood scores, notes, contributors, mood dates, reminder settings, and mood-entry identifiers are not sent to Firebase Analytics. Mood Tracker does not set a Firebase user ID. Analytics is configured not to use the Android advertising ID or advertising-personalization signals and is not linked to Google Ads. User-level and event-level Analytics data is retained for two months.

Advertising

Mood Tracker uses Google Mobile Ads to display advertising and Google’s User Messaging Platform to obtain and manage advertising privacy choices where required. Depending on the user’s region, device settings, and consent choices, Google may process:

  • the device’s IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
  • app and advertisement interactions;
  • diagnostic information; and
  • device or account identifiers, which may include the resettable Android advertising ID when it is available and permitted.

Google uses this information to provide, measure, and protect advertising, including fraud prevention. Mood Tracker does not send mood scores, notes, contributors, dates, or mood-entry identifiers to Google Mobile Ads.

Information sent to Google Analytics for Firebase and Google Mobile Ads is encrypted in transit. Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy and its applicable service terms.

If Google Play confirms that the user owns the Remove Ads purchase, Mood Tracker does not initialize Google Mobile Ads or the User Messaging Platform and does not request ads.

Remove Ads purchase

Mood Tracker offers an optional, one-time Remove Ads purchase through Google Play. Google Play handles the transaction and payment details. Mood Tracker receives the product information and purchase status needed to complete the purchase and restore the ad-free entitlement. It does not receive the user’s payment-card details or Google Account email address.

Google Play, not Android backup, is the source of the purchase status. After reinstalling Mood Tracker, or installing it on another compatible device, the user can restore Remove Ads through the Google Account used for the original purchase without paying again.

Mood Tracker stores a local copy of the current ad-free status so ads stay hidden while Google Play checks the purchase. This copy is not included in Android backup because the purchase is restored from Google Play.

Choices and deletion

Users can:

  • manage Android backup through the device’s system settings;
  • use the advertising privacy choices shown in Mood Tracker when required;
  • reset or delete the Android advertising ID through Android settings; and
  • delete current on-device Mood Tracker data by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app.

Android may retain an existing backup according to the user’s Android backup settings and Google’s retention practices. Mood Tracker cannot inspect or independently delete that platform-managed copy. Analytics and advertising data is retained or deleted by Google according to the settings and policies described above.

Where data-protection law applies, analytics is processed for the legitimate interest of understanding aggregate app usage. Advertising is processed with consent where consent is required and otherwise for the legitimate interests of funding the free app, measuring ads, and preventing fraud. Purchase information is processed to provide the Remove Ads purchase.

Depending on the law that applies, users may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of their personal data. Because the contents of mood entries are not sent to us, we cannot retrieve or delete that on-device information for the user. Privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].

Intended audience

Mood Tracker is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. The app does not ask for or store a birth date.
